When is the best time to post on YouTube? I hear that question a lot and in this blog post, I want to share my thoughts about publishing times on YouTube and if it matters.

The important thing about publishing videos on YouTube isn’t WHEN during the day you post, but how regularly you are posting.

Consistency is the engine for your YouTube channel.
Timing is the fine-tuning you do once you have the engine in place.

It’s the same with going to the gym or cutting the grass. There might be times during the day when you get more out of it, but it really doesn’t matter if you’re just doing it one time per month anyway or stop doing it after just 90 days.

I recommend that you create a schedule that you can commit to long-term, preferably at least once a week. This will train you to form a productive content creation process while practising to meet deadlines.

This will also teach your viewers when they can expect content from you. When they learn that, they might change their consumption behaviour based on when you upload.

But now, the algorithm is so advanced that it can often figure out who to show your content to and when to show it. So, before you start focusing on publishing times, focus on creating content regularly. Because sticking to a schedule over years is a huge challenge in itself.

But IF you want to optimize the publishing time, you can look at the heatmap inside your YouTube Studio to see exactly when most of your viewers are active and then post shortly before that.
