If you have a captions file, so a file that ends with “SRT”, and you want to import that into Adobe Premiere Pro, it is very easy to do.

How to import subtitles into Adobe Premiere Pro

First, if you have captions that you want to export into an SRT file from Adobe Premiere Pro, you can read this blog post, but if you want to import it, you simply drag and drop the file into the “Project” window inside Premiere Pro and from there, you drag and drop it from the “Project” window, down to the timeline.

Here, you select what to align your subtitles to (the source timecode, the playhead position, or the timeline start) and then click “OK”.

Now, it will place it on the new subtitle track and you can align it with your previous text if it is out of sync.

…Or you can use a tool like “subshifter” before you import the file.
